Welcome to the first
Ripon Poetry Festival

Ripon enjoys some important literary associations – Lewis Carroll and Wilfred Owen both wrote some of their most famous work while living here. And now Ripon has its first poetry festival, a week-end of poetry readings, workshops and book launches for poetry lovers of all ages.

The festival includes well-known poets Michael Rosen and Kate Fox, the performance of a modern Anglo-Saxon epic, a talk about Wilfred Owen’s Ripon, a poetry reading in Arabic and English, the first local screening of a film-poem about Ripon in the early twentieth-century, poetry workshops for school children at the Workhouse, Police and Courthouse museums and pop-up poetry readings all over town.

We hope that there is something here for everyone who likes reading and writing poetry.

Andy Croft, David McAndrew and Paul Mills
